Oil Contamination of Soil at Construction Site
Project #1907

A construction facility contained above ground diesel tanks and waste oil drums.

Over the years, the tanks and drums leaked resulting in soil contamination.  Approximately 500 cubic yards of soil was stockpiled in preparation for bioremediation.  A biotreatability study was conducted to evaluate if the contaminated soil would support the biological processes necessary to degrade petroleum hydrocarbons.

The results verified the potential for successful bioremediation.  Fieldwork is pending to degrade the diesel and oil contaminated soil to acceptable regulatory levels.
